2. The Narcissist Is Scheming.
Another reason why the Narcissist would go silent is because they are scheming. They could be scheming to destroy someone or just panning their next rendezvous. Narcissists are usually obsessed with seeking revenge and they also obsess over their new supplies. Both things can have the Narcissist mind in overdrive.
When it comes to the New Supply, the Narcissist focus is all about how to keep charming them and how to find more time to spend with them. The Narcissist hates to be interrupted when they are in this frame of mind, so it is easy for them to lash out and become super argumentative as that too can provide a further reason for them to get away (if they currently have a partner) and be with that new supply.

When they have had their fill of the New Supply is when they tend to come back around playing nice again to keep you off their scent until they are ready to go again. Narcissists juggle supplies this way until they are ready to let go of one, and then that is when the occasional love-bombing stops altogether and they are in full discard mode, which is something I discussed in this article for those who may want to know more about how the Narcissists behave when they are ready to discard someone.
But whether the Narcissist is scheming to destroy someone or make someone fall in love with them, they invest a lot of time and energy to get both things right. And when the Narcissist mind is thus preoccupied, they are bound to be more silent than usual.
