The fourth reason someone may decide to give a Narcissist a second chance has a lot to do with love as well. Because that person can come back insisting that they have changed or that things will be different. And when you still love the Narcissist, coupled with the desire to want to make things work, you are more inclined to believe that next time things will be different than maybe the Narcissist, no matter how ridiculously short the time has somehow managed to make some crucial changes to make your relationship better.
And the nostalgia of holding on to the good times and minimizing the bad times can make someone fall right back into the arms of an abuser. With Narcissists, there would have been good times. Those over-the-top moments bonded you to the Narcissist and convinced you that they must truly love us. Those are the memories that will be refed to you, along with promises of new and better memories, so that you can give them another chance.
