The Third Category.
In the third category, we have those narcissists who know that they are narcissists and are either secretly proud of it or are trying to change. Those who are trying to change are few and far between, so they cannot be compared to those who are secretly proud of being narcissists, as they feel themselves superior. But they will not admit it because of the stigma and the negative attributes attached to being a narcissist. In their minds, they have justified that the behaviors people don’t like are necessary for their survival and that others are too simple-minded to understand, as they are not on their level.
These types of narcissists are becoming more numerous, as the awareness of narcissists and narcissism is spreading. But for them, it’s another secret that they are happy to hide to continue deceiving those around them. They take much pride in being narcissists, as narcissists are usually known to be successful, driven, intelligent, charming, and almost captivating. They play into this even more, as it fuels their ego. These types would be the ones calling others narcissists in a derogatory way and even educating people about narcissists. They feel they are on a higher level than most narcissists due to their awareness.
