What Does The Bible Say About Narcissism

  To start off, the bible does not to my knowledge specifically use the word or term narcissist or narcissism. However, that doesn’t mean the bible hasn’t addressed this topic. I personally believe that the bible has addressed this topic in several scriptures, which I’m getting ready to list a few of those and give you my analysis.

 However, as I mentioned before, I am certainly not an expert or a scholar of the bible. So please, know that before you read this article. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts or any other opinions that you might have in the comments below or any other scriptures that you know of that I didn’t mention.

 The first scripture that I would like to mention is 2nd timothy 3:2-5, which states:

“People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”

 Now, this scripture doesn’t specifically say the word narcissist or narcissism. However, it does say lovers of self, proud, arrogant, and abusive. If this doesn’t describe the behaviors of a narcissist, I don’t know what does. I don’t think I know any better adjectives or words to use that would more accurately describe a narcissist or what narcissism looks like.

 The next scripture I would like to mention is in Romans 16, which says:
