What Does The Bible Say About Narcissism

“I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. For your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil.”

So let’s break this down, take the verse that says: and by smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the hearts of the naïve. That sounds an awful lot like love bombing to me. Smooth talk and flattery, that are the first cycle that victims of narcissists go through. Narcissists love bomb us, they mirror us and lead us to believe that they are our soul mates.

To me, that sounds exactly like what this scripture describes by saying: smooth talk and flattery.

Next, let’s address the part that says: they deceive the hearts of the naïve. Who do narcissists target? They target empaths. Why do they target empaths? Because we have good hearts because we are typically naive to the reality that people like them exist. Because we could not imagine deceiving another human being the way the narcissist has deceived us. And Because we are usually guilty of, projecting how we think and feel onto everyone else in the world.

We truly believe that most of the population thinks and feels as we do. We tend to believe that most people have tons of empathy and compassion as we do. Typically, we have been completely naive to the fact that there are so many narcissists out in the real world, of course, until we have been harmed by one and our naivete is stolen from us never to return.
