They want to remind themselves that they matter to someone.

 Number 2: They ask questions about your personal life without any apparent reason for doing so.

 A narcissist is someone obsessed with their image, so they will be looking to find any way to feed their ego. If you’re with a narcissist, you may notice that they are always asking questions about your personal life such as: What you like and dislike, how much money you make, and where you grew up. This can feel invasive and uncomfortable, but remember that it’s not just because they’re nosy; they’re trying to learn more about you so they can use it against you later.

 The thing about narcissists is that they’ll do anything to get what they want, and that includes pretending to be your friend who makes comments and asks about your personal life. They may seem interested in you, but what they want is for you to do them favors or manipulate you into doing what they want.
