6. Conditional love.
People grow up being narcissistic because of the conditions made by their parents in order to receive their love. It means that they are not going to feel loved if all they do is fail. Neglected once the parents identify their child as a failure, does not contribute to the family, and does not meet the standards set in the house.
This is the reason why children grow up with narcissists because as they grow up, there will be insecurities developed, especially if they are being compared to the sibling which the parents treat as a golden child. How are you feeling after being compared to your siblings?
5. Attention seeking.
When we were kids, we used to seek attention from our parents, right? Let me ask you, have your parents given you the right amount of attention? If you ever lack the attention you needed when you were a kid, the chance of you becoming a narcissist is very high. It is likely that you will slowly become the person your parents were. You will likely be attracted to empaths because they will be the ones to give you the attention you seek.
What’s worse is that you will not be able to appreciate the help and good deeds that the empaths will give you. So, are you going to be like your narcissistic parents and make the same mistakes as them?
