Another reason that narcissists get married is to nail down and basically own a never-ending source of narcissistic supply. Of course, you likely won’t be aware of this before you get married. However, that is a big reason why narcissists get married. Basically, they look at marriage as ownership of the supply that their spouse will be required to give them 24/ 7.
4. Need a punching bag to blame for everything.
Another reason many narcissists get married is so that they can have a punching bag, a dumping ground to utilize for blaming them for everything that goes wrong; whether the spouse is responsible for it or not. Narcissists take zero accountability for the bad things they do or the bad outcomes they are responsible for.
Therefore, having a lifetime person available to fill the role as a person to blame for everything that goes wrong is incredibly important to narcissists because god knows, they won’t ever take accountability for anything negative. So little does the spouse know that after they are married they will be blamed for literally every single thing that goes wrong in this marriage? Doesn’t matter if the spouse had absolutely nothing to do with it and all the evidence proves the narcissist is the guilty party, they will twist, turn, and manipulate the truth in such a way that completely blames their spouse.
The spouse is used to blame, ridicule, bad mouth, humiliate, and flat-out abuse for everything that goes wrong.
