 Hoovering narcissists may take it to a social media platform to lure a victim back into a relationship. Most of the population has social media, so they will use it as a way to let the victim know how they feel. Hoovering narcissists will start to share old photos and memories and sometimes caption these photos with phrases like “best time in my life” or “I wish I could go back and do it all over again.”

 The hoovering narcissist will do this knowing there is a high chance the victim will see this and if not, that someone will show them. They do this to make the victim reminisce on past events with the narcissist and remember the emotional aspect of the relationship.

 That can cause the victim to reach out because they start to think only about the happy moments, even if the bad moments outweighed them. They purposely post pictures or statuses that will make the victim feel sad so they will feel guilty and contact the narcissist to apologize.

 Some statuses they may post to ignite guilt in the victim can include:

  • Another lonely night by myself.
  •   Why do people always leave?
  •   What did I do to deserve this pain?
  • Can’t stop thinking about happier times.

 These posts are there to push thoughts of guilt on the victim. The narcissist hoovering on social media understands how impactful social media can be and uses that to their advantage. They may begin to hoover as soon as they break up or begin hoovering after months apart.
