The Third Category.
In the third category, we have those narcissists who know that they are a narcissist and are either secretly proud of it or are trying to change. Those that are trying to change are few and far between, so cannot be compared to those who are secretly proud of being narcissists, as they feel themselves superior. But they will not admit it because of the stigma or the negative attributes attached to being a narcissist.
But in their minds, they have justified that the behaviors people don’t like are necessary for their survival and that others are too simple-minded to understand as they are not on their level.
These types of narcissists are becoming more in number, as the awareness of narcissists and narcissism is spreading. But for them, it’s another secret that they are happy to hide to continue deceiving those around them. They take much pride in being a narcissist, as narcissists are usually known to be successful, driven, intelligent, charming, almost captivating, and they play into this even more as it fuels their ego.
These types would be the ones calling others narcissists in a derogatory way and even be educating people about narcissists. They feel they are on a higher level than most narcissists due to their awareness.
