 Pay close attention to the body language of anyone that you suspect might be a covert narcissist. They are so good at getting their message across utilizing non-verbal techniques. So, for example, if they are not pleased with you or trying to manipulate you, they may just completely ignore you, in an effort to get you in line with whatever it is that they want, or they might give you a look at others, contempt, and disgust, to let you know what they think of you.

 They are the king and queens of the dreaded eye roll. They may stare you down too to get the message across to you that you’re walking on very thin ice with them. But covert narcissists are huge fans of controlling and manipulating other people using nonverbal communication tactics.

3. Covert narcissist is very sensitive to any form of criticism.

Covert narcissists are incredibly sensitive to any form of criticism, even constructive kind criticism or even perceived criticism. Meaning, they could easily take offense to something that you did or that you said that was not intended to offend them or anyone else for that matter.

Covert narcissists are super sensitive, and their egos are incredibly fragile. And when you combine that with the fact that they typically identify with the role of the victim, you will likely be walking on eggshells around them on a consistent basis, because you never know what on earth is going to offend them.

You typically have to handle these people with kid gloves and watch your peas and cues very carefully.
