Narcissists seriously market themselves online and in-person to convince you that they are the real deal when they are not. Anyone who toots their own horn too much and makes statements like trust me, I don’t tell lies, I am really caring, I give to charity, or just feel like they have to publicize the good they do; be suspicious.
Because basically, what they are doing is constantly volunteering information to build their credibility; be careful. A normal person would not feel the need to say these things. They are more likely to just show it. But Narcissists are all about deceiving our senses, especially in the love-bombing phase; that is something I tried to explain in this article because during the love-bombing or honeymoon phase, not only do they talk the talk, but they walk the walk.
We hear them say nice things, we see them do nice things; they overload our senses so that we will not listen to our gut. With Narcissists, we cannot trust either their words or their actions. So, we have to rely heavily on our instincts and not ignore what our gut is telling us. And these supposedly nice words they say are red flags for you to consider. Because although they seem like words or phrases a decent person would say, they don’t really need to be said at all.

Trust for example needs to be earned. Someone saying to trust them or that you can trust them in a very short window of knowing that person; is not enough. Narcissists are very good blaggers. They know how to talk their way into your life. People underestimate how dangerous it is to even listen to a Narcissist. But you need to realize that this is how they get what they want a lot of it is through verbal communication.
So, they will tell you things to make them look like a good person. And many of us didn’t find out until it was too late that all those kind words and wonderful traits that they said they had or pretended to have for a short time were all a lie.
Narcissists are not honest; they do not care about people and they cannot be trusted. But this is what they try to make us believe. This is how they market themselves, by telling us they are these things. Anyone who spends too much time marketing themselves is clearly trying to sell you something that is not really there. So be careful.
